I'm in a long time flying fan and I've been fooling with drones since before they called them drones. Back when a dude known as timecop ported the code for the Arduino based control Boards of the day over to flight control boards based on STM 32 devices. This opened the whole new realm of control that today has evolved into the drones that have gps and can fly a mission and return to home. They even have a black box flight log that tells you everything you could possibly want to know about the performance of your flying machine. The processors on these boards are fast enough to update the speed of the motors on your quad copter 600 times a second...
